Year of Jubilee- Pilgrims of Hope

Every 25 years, the Church celebrates a Jubilee Year—a special time for reflection, renewal, and opening ourselves to grace. The upcoming Jubilee Year, running from December 24, 2024, to December 14, 2025, is called ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. It’s a time to focus on the needs around us and respond with mercy, compassion, and hope.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) wants to join you on this journey. We have a few resources to support your year of pilgrimage, these are designed especially to help us reflect on the challenges in our communities and consider how we can act with Christ-like mercy. It’s all about looking at the world through a lens of hope and taking action to make things better.

As young adults, this is our chance to dive deep into what hope and mercy really mean in the world today. How can we be a light in our communities? How can we show up for those who need it most? These are the questions we'd love to explore with you this Jubilee year

Use what is helpful in your parish or your university setting to help support your journey and inspire others. For more information or to ask any questions contact Kezia Harrow at [email protected]

Campaign Materials - What are we campaigning for?

The government has recently changed its policy on the number of days refugees have to find permanent accommodation, before the government support is stopped. This used to be 7 days, which later increased to 28 days, and now it is 56 days. This change gives many people hope, but we believe hope doesn’t need to be temporary. We are informed that the policy is a temporary measure until June 2025 and are calling all young adults this Lent to get involved in our campaign, by writing to their local MP to ask that this policy is made permanent.
