Who we are: The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is an international volunteer organisation whose members work with anyone in need in their local community – the homeless, the elderly, prisoners, struggling families, people who are sick and lonely. Young people are an important part of the Vincentian family. We are all called to be like Jesus by helping people, becoming their friend and working with others to make a difference. The St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) in England and Wales runs programmes for young people in primary schools, secondary schools, colleges, universities and parishes.

Session 1: All are Welcome

This session is an introduction to the SVP and to our mission of SEE, THINK and DO. This session culminates in an opportunity for meaningful action.

Session 2: We are Family

This session is an introduction to the Vincentian Family. Members of the group will begin to explore and understand their own motivations and hopes. Through exploring the lives of the founders and patrons the aim is participants will see how they fit into the rich tapestry that is the Vincentian family. Click here for 'Our Crew'.

Session 3 - What is Poverty?

In this session young adults explore what Poverty means. We consider how poverty might present itself in the local communities and the group are challenged to ask and listen to the local community and their needs.

Session 4: Our Values

This session deep dives into our Catholic Social Teaching and introduces participants to some of the stories of the SVP.

Session 5: Fundraising

All our work in underpinned by the generosity of those who support our work. . The essence of what we do is face-to-face contact and spending time with people is our greatest gift – alongside the vital practical and financial help they need. Treating everyone with the respect they deserve, no matter their background or faith. This session is a practical one and an opportunity to develop some event planning skills.
