This year’s SVP Heart to Heart Lent campaign focuses on loneliness, something that affects people of all ages across our wider community. Even in busy universities, families, neighbourhoods, and parishes, many people can feel unseen or on their own. This campaign invites a simple but meaningful response: reach out and have a conversation.
We are inspired by St Pier Giorgio Frassati, an SVP member who believed deeply in friendship and in lifting others up - verso l’alto, “to the heights”. When we lift someone else, we often find ourselves lifted too.
The Heart to Heart resources are designed to support this in ways that work in your own setting. You’ll find short weekly reflections and videos that fit easily into CathSoc gatherings or young adult sessions in parishes. There are also Stations of the Cross that can support parish worship, and a dedicated prayer experience for large groups, focusing on the moments of Maundy Thursday.
Loneliness is one of the biggest hidden poverties today. These resources remind us that when we take time to listen, things can change. People feel noticed, hearts open, and God is often found in the space between people.
So this Lent, take up the challenge in your community: reach out and have a conversation. We hope these resources support you as you continue to create meaningful moments in the lives of the young people you accompany.
