Mini Vinnies Fundraising and Campaigning

This is your chance to turn concern into action by getting involved in fundraising and campaigning for the SVP.

Fundraising

By supporting the SVP, you’re helping us to offer the hand of friendship, food and practical support to individuals and families living in crisis. Our services are unique – we are local, truly grassroots and every person we work with is treated with dignity and without judgement. Our door is never closed, and we’re here for everyone that needs us. That makes the work we do in-demand. In fact, there’s been a 143% increase in requests for help to our national office over the past year alone.  In these hard times, where finances are stretched thin and many people are being pushed into poverty, our work has never been so important. Fundraising for the SVP today will help us be there for people, in-person, right when they need us most.

SVP Sponsored Sleep

The SVP would like to engage with our children and young people to raise awareness of the issues surrounding homelessness in England and Wales. For all those who lack a secure place to call home, who may be sleeping rough, fleeing from danger, stuck in hostels, bed and breakfasts, or sofa surfing, we want the SVP Sponsored Sleep to demonstrate our solidarity with them. This experience will not only give our young people a better understanding of what thousands experience every day, it will also give them the opportunity to turn their concern into action by raising vital funds which enables the SVP to continue to support the most vulnerable and socially excluded in our communities. The SVP Sponsored Sleep can be scaled up or down so that everyone has the chance to safely take part and make a real difference to someone in need.

Gather the SVP family

To celebrate the birthdays of St Vincent de Paul on 24th April 1581, and Blessed Frédéric Ozanam on 23rd April 1813, we gather the SVP family to honour the legacy of both men and look to the future filled with hope.

You will also find adapted resources to run your event at any time of the year. This might be a celebration for the feast days of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam (9th September) and St Vincent de Paul (27th September) or for a general gathering of the SVP family.

Campaigning

There is a wealth of resources to get your Mini Vinnies into campaigning with the SVP. Each year we use the season of Lent to campaign, so do check out the campaign for this current year. Resources from previous campaigns are still available here to be used and adapted accordingly.

A Time for Hope: An SVP Lenten Campaign 2025

Welcome to the 2025 SVP Lent Campaign: A Time for Hope. During the season of Lent, we are inviting all children and young people to journey deeper in prayer and take action as 'Pilgrims of Hope'. Our pack for Lent includes a Leader's guide, Reconciliation Service for children, the SVP Lenten Campaign, and Prayer Stations for you to use throughout the season. We'd love you to share your campaign stories with us, so don't forget to tag us in your social media posts #DoorsofHope and send any stories for our e-news to [email protected].

Make Poverty a Priority- SVP Lenten Campaign

These special Stations of the Cross and accompanying resources that form the Make Poverty a Priority SVP Lenten Campaign (2023) help children to pray and pause for a moment to think about the journey that Jesus took to the cross on Good Friday when he gave his life for us. The SVP invites all our children and young people to a year of encounter, a chance to meet others and make a difference. As they go on this journey with Jesus, they are challenged to see, think and do, and we would like to provide agency for the children to identify those in power in their community to whom they can raise their voices and make poverty a priority.

What we have, we share: A Lenten Campaign

What we have, we share (2023) is an opportunity to show children and young people that we all have something to share with others and make a big difference to someone’s life. We are well aware that many of our children and young people with whom we work will be experiencing the effects of the cost of living crisis, but we want to emphasise that, even in the midst of a crisis, they still have gifts to share with others, whether it’s time, friendship or prayer.

Forget-me-not SVP Lenten Reconciliation Service

The SVP Forget-me-not campaign (2022) encourages our Young Vincentians to reflect and learn about the experiences of people seeking sanctuary in our country. It is more important than ever to raise our voices and put our faith into action. Our resources will help you to do just this.
